Olympus Marathon is a unique trail running event held annually on Mount Olympus, the Greek mythical “Mountain of the Gods”. The route itself revives the pilgrimage of ancient Greeks to Mount Olympus, where they ascended every year to honour and sacrifice to Zeus. The race starts every last Sunday of June from the remains of the sacred city of Dion, just at the sunrise. The athletes starting from a sea-level altitude follow 44km of trails at the slopes of Mt Olympus and reach the height of 2780m retracing history and myth.
